It's because she's a PRINCESS, stupid!

During Tha Limpix in 2000, a real estate agent from Tasmania named
Mary Donaldson met the Crown Prince of Denmark. They later got
married, and she became Princess Mary of Denmark. Now that she is
a princess, the media goes NUTS when she visits Austria, because
HEY PRINCESS!!!

One very popular media technique is asking little girls what they
think of Princess Mary. The little girls GUSH and say, "She's so
BEATIFUL!", and "She's so WONDERFUL!", and "I'll NEVER FORGET meeting
her!". I wonder if the little girls would have been so excited if they
had met Mary Donaldson, real estate agent, in 1999 before she was a
princess. Of course they wouldn't, because nobody likes real estate
agents. So if you're a real estate agent and nobody likes you, find
a prince and get married to him. Once you're a princess, everybody
will like you and talk about what sort of clothes you are wearing.

Tommy never envisioned the fascist lengths to which an apparently
democratically elected government would have gone over the last few days
in the UK.

Hail the Lords, protectors (or at least advocates) of civil liberties.

What I suppose this shows is that the idea of elected legislators
is as inconsistent as that of elected judges, or elected juries;
and as absurd as an elected mathematician, or an elected wise
man; and as ridiculous as an elected poet laurate.

All the best,

John.

In re the first few points, the problem seems to be that one wants to be
governed by good people instead of evil ones (all other things being
equal) but that the electorate prefer to elect the evil ones.

Which way did Peter Hain vote, d'y'know?

WRT the last of your points, I don't see why England needs an Faggot
Laureate, when Buck House is allegedly full of hereditary ones.

And Edward almost certainly writes better poetry.

"And if I am elected
I promise the formation of a new party
A third party, the Wild Party!
I know we have problems,
We got problems right here in Central City,
We have problems on the North, South, East and West,
New York City, Saint Louis, Philadelphia, Los Angeles,
Detroit, Chicago,
Everybody has problems,
And personally, I don't care."
Alice Cooper

I'm glad I was unelected then.
